Since 1984
Our Story
From the age of 19, Mario began learning the craft of butchery from his older brother, Pio, who at the time had his own butcher shop in Woodbridge, ON. Pio was a master butcher who taught Mario everything he knows.
In 1992, Mario started The Food Plus Company as a side business while still working for Pio full-time, with the dream of someday having his own full-time butchery business. Throughout the 1990s, The Food Plus Company continued to grow more sustainable as a full-time, viable business. After his brother retired, Mario felt it was time to take The Food Plus Company to its full potential and go out on his own.
In 2003, Mario officially opened his own bricks-and-mortar butcher shop in Pickering, ON, retaining The Food Plus Company name and brand. With his wife and kids by his side, it has remained a family-run business for over 25 years.
TODAY
Presently, Mario’s middle child, David, continues to have a major role in the running of the business day-to-day. His fabulous wife Filomena handles the daily office duties that come with running a family business. His two other children have pursued careers outside butchery, however all of Mario’s children, his son-in-law, daughters-in-laws and grandchildren can often be found still helping out at The Food Plus Company from time to time!

You can place your entire order online, and pick it up when its ready.

- Exit at Brock Road in Pickering.
Go South - At Clements Road (second set of lights) make a Left.
- Go over the train tracks and make a Right into your first available driveway.
- The building address is 1885 Clements Road and we are in Unit 237.
Do You Take Walk-Ins?
You can also just come in and we will serve you right away. The usual wait time is around 10-15 minutes for walk-ins depending on the size of the order and how busy we are at that moment. If you choose to call ahead and give us an approximate time that you will be here, we will have it ready for you. You can even submit an order through this website.
